7.6.04  Drinking XI – 2004
Spending the summer in fine form captain Yak has brought some sterling form into the winter whites season. Summer antics were at a high with de Aspins in town. But since their departure it has been all Yak. Yak's antics Didn't seem to slow even though he was somewhat hooked. Stories to hot to print. (See me for gossip!) Wookie And XP seem to be forming a very close partnership! Yuck Yuck Windows, what are you doing? Wookie was dropped From the B's Starting XI, but his form in the Drinking XI is solid. On that faithful week , he was at the PA for Tuesday Training and the Gilbert for Thursday training. And turned up to the game after that "Beat Smugglers" night, wandering Around stadium de white telling anyone who would listen… "I luvvvvv'ssssss you".
So my choice for the starting XI would be:
Dan "the Face" Aikin – Vodka at the FA Cup night anyone?
Benn "the Wook" Barratt – Well Benn is sort of known for his "tightness", and the classic was at the german club the other day. It's your round benn, I'll only buy you a beer Joe if you scull that stein. Poor little Joe sculls the beer (which is bigger than his head – but perhaps not his head), Wookie then proceeds to walk out the pub, to the geers and abuse from all.
Campbell "Cam" Hopgood – Now Cam is actually know for his mature head, (even more so since Jules news) But apparently when his "mate" heads down from the Mount, the phantom is realised. In this boozy session the reports have it that he ended up on a Tuesday night, at the crazy horse. Apparently he "won" a lapdance – lucky Cam.
Graeme "the Horse" Jackson – Last years MVP hasn't exactly had a quiet 2004. His highlight must be, being the last man standing at his house warming. The fact that he lives there has nothing to do with it?
Simon "Cappy" Capp – I have done nothing untoward or excessive.
Jo "XP" Windows – So many memories, Windows has been on fire this year. My favourite comment from him "is there any reason why I should move in with wookie". Pretty much been inseparable with Wookie since getting a job together, turning into a real dumb and dumber act. (Joe plays the roll of dumb).
Nick "Junior" Ward – Want a beer Ward, *looks around* my brother isn't here… make it a pale.
Dan "MIA" Bushe – He rang me once, on a Saturday night… he was out, I was not. Say no more.
Tim "Where's Wally" Levett – He must get points for living with me. Lev is a absolute regular on the drinking circuit. His ability to keep beer sales up during his injury sales has to be rewarded. Tim is probably most well known for his acholic fazed words of relationship advise. "Two, ten, doesn't matter how many, just as long as it's happening." - Tim on the joys of having a variety of partners, in front of live-in girlfriend.
Jon "Perth" Aspin – Based in Melbourne, but back with the gang once a month. Offering many words of advise along the way; "what's going on boys? someone draw me out of this spiralling depression i find myself in...either you all need to get off the crackpipe or get back on it with a vengeance - i can't work out which."
Steve "Yak" Safralidis – He has one hand on the MVP and its only June. So many stories aren't printable. A few words for those Censored
My 12th man: Chris "Crab" Gayen – Crab has been a revelation on the sidelines of the pitch. He gets his spot for comments like this, "you have to value your time away from your wife/partner, every second is precious, beer anyone?"
24.2.04  WDXI in the Off Season
Luckily the Uni Whites Drinking XI have been resting up over summer, taking it easy, tucked into bed by 11pm on most Saturday nights. A challenging season for the WDXI, with key imports Calum and Diego heading back to the comfort of the warm expensive foreign pints. And the Aspin two, finding the pace in the WDXI just a little too tough.
Opportunity for the next generation of cigarettes and alcohol.
XP's form has been solid over summer, and looks to be one of the super stars of the XI this time round. Scarily Yak and Wookie go into the season SINGLE. Which can only mean absolute devastation....
The team will again be based around the solid performers, Cam and Horse. Cam has had a subdue summer, worryingly he has left the drinking up to Jules. But I'm sure he can find the form, the whisky on the rocks, or his career?
Levett has really stepped up over pre-season, including Jon's buck's night. "Simon, I'm staying until Yak goes home..." The fact that Yak doesn't go home, didn't quite dawn on him.
Ahh the stupidity of it all....
